on leaving

in preparation, in limbo, in anticipation
a restless rumbling tumbling unease

with a hiss and a pop!

a cork is released of its obligation
meritorious celebration of non-doing
but merely simply being only

[I have read that the words "am" and "is"
are descended from a word meaning "breathe"
and the word "be" from a word meaning "grow"]

merely simply growing breathing only
that is worthy of celebration
above all else
_____________

on another day, things will re appear
and coalesce around you like a fog
settling inversely so that
the distant mist is perceived through
a heretofore unknown clarity of vision
all of the ponderings will drop away
leaf-like from where they stubbornly
resist the winter's looming
but this is the age of global warming
and this winter will mark a turn
in the taiji as we ascend and descend
simultaneously synchronously unknowingly
unbidden thoughtless automatic worry'd
and sore afraid

we are always afraid of the unknown
~ not knowing that we know nothing!

metaphor's door

in all that we are aware of
in every way we know anything
we draw a line to another
connecting that which is not
connected externally

does the brain do this?
does the mind do this?
does our nature do this?

being of our own nature, mind, and brain
we can never answer this question

so, would you please tell me what it is?
(although I can never understand it
except, as with everything
through a metaphor...

damn !~)

reverberation

mix thoroughly then separate
the divided components of your self
yourself will know each other

recognize the recognition
conceive the unimagined
image the unforeseen
know the not

divide separate integrate rewind
always listening ~ action!
always preparing ~ sleep...

pulling on the bootstraps
was never how anything meaningful
was ever accomplished
but only in the slow grinding
of the gears behind the clockface
unknown to the timereaders

vigilance is repaid in kind
just relax!

Keep Matters for a Time in Suspense

Admiration at their novelty heightens the value of your achievements, It is both useless and insipid to play with the cards on the table. If you do not declare yourself immediately, you arouse expectation, especially when the importance of your position makes you the object of general attention. Mix a little mystery with everything, and the very mystery arouses veneration. And when you explain, be not too explicit, just as you do not expose your inmost thoughts in ordinary intercourse. Cautious silence is the holy of holies of worldly wisdom. A resolution declared is never highly thought of; it only leaves room for criticism. And if it happens to fail, you are doubly unfortunate. Besides you imitate the Divine way when you cause men to wonder and watch.

Manitoba born, what gives you the clues,
is it in what you take home or in all that you do.
The cold weather is on its way, its chilly and icy grip draws near,
at least there are no bugs for eight months of the year.
What about a legacy, in my children I pray,
dismissing my indulgences, and family leads the way.
As it falls into place I'm still a lovable loser,
with post season high hopes leaving them laughing and getting shook up. This profession does not suffer fools.

per sent ages

nothing and nothing
together in the dark
feeling the walls and stumbling blocks
sleepless and waiting
...waiting and wondering
.....wishing and wanting
.......relinquishing

reliving the moments that passed on the wind
while the scent of turmoil boils within
on a rope on a limb on the hook
on downing street on main street
at the capitol in the field
the armies have gathered and settled in
for the long haul
the plunder divided unevenly
that was the start of the conflict

--==::;; and the resolution awaits the revolution

Update:

So Im living in Jose s old apartement in Kensington in Toronto with Corin Raymond and Shaun Cotton. Im taking a yoga teaching course until February. Ive got a lot of new extremely valuable new paintings on the go. They are of a high value.

I have multiple cellphones and often send upwards of 2000 text messages everyday. Often I am required to use multiple cellphones simoutanteously. In fact, as I am typing this message I am texting five messages, talking on the phone to three people, watching a movie, downloading ringtones, not to mention bluetoothing, blackberyying, and instant megabiofluxetting.

My job is building a wall for a condo building. It reminds me of the tower of Babel. A lot of raking sand and piling rocks. You know what they say about babylons wall.

Which reminds me, although attention temporaryily shifted away from the rapid destruction of the natural environmental system of the earth by the rapid dissolution of the human economic system in order to effect the elections; don t b fooled. Mother nature will not be ignored for long.

Not that I am desirous for apocalypse. it just seems as if its going to happen.

anyways, you ve heard it all before. Just thought Id remind u

who is this?

Take Me to the Big Bath

Take me to the big bath, to that river of mud.
Over the bridge please, there, there, over there please.
We can go for a walk but it will have to be short,
Grandma doesn't wait to see you with her dying cellphone.
Raisin bread and noodles, buttered to our delight.
Athletic therapy and mouthguards to stop the grinding in the night.
Jason in the extra foods, two chickens for one price.
All day sitting at a desk and knowing it's not right.
floating on the seven seas
reflectings of the solar wind
cutting through the ultraviolet
infratessimally

spilling, shaping, sounding
in the hot light of day
in the misty hazy dewy morning

bamboo and rum and mango - oh!
is this not our true home?

don't think about the past
don't think about the future
only the swirling whirling unfurling now

do you see that ship
bobbing on the waves
just out at the horizon
on the enormous ocean

is this not our true home?
where the black sand
meets the white cliffs
between blue and blue and blue
(not to mention all the green)

...

that was long ago
and soon the colours will dim
leaving only the black and white

what is a memory?

Satellite Radio

It was summertime

It was just like last year
looking out from the window of a truck
on the wheat fields
and farmhouses
playing my favorite game
of wondering
who might live there

Manitoba 2007
came home once I saw the blue skies

except I wasn't in Manitoba
and it wasn't 2007
I was on the highway out of Toronto
I was on my way to Niagra Falls

My father never liked my train of thought
he said I was too impulsive
or too irresponsible
or too lazy
or too preoccupied with silly dreams

I guess it takes an enemy
to bring you closer to center
I suppose that's what it was

But the satellite radio was just too good
that day
for me to waste my time worrying about consequences

I ordered the most expensive whiskey on the menu
and made lewd jokes that tested the limits of
the new friendships that i had made

it just heightened the mood anyway

but that's not what my father would have said

There is an audio component to the show.

A soundtrack per se.

You walk around with headphones on.

The Pros and Cons of a Monday(yesterday's news)

The Cons
1. The Polar Bears are going somewhere yet nowhere, and not very fast.
2. Mae pooped on the sofa
3. Financial woes, day to day doldrums, and impending winter
The Pros
1. I went to my Auntie Bea's reading from her book "In Search of April Raintree."
2. I met with Alana Levandoski about a project for her CD fundraiser.
3. Al Simmons called my home to thank me for including him in my piece "35 Great Manitobans"
At least there's somekind of balance.

harvest

less of a certainty than ever before
hanging in the dark over my door
reminders of someone else's memories

and - stop - the questions
there is no need to revisit
that other country
there is no reason to wonder
if and when and why
because all you need is the what
which is the will to carry on

a lesser moon rises through the fog
and dusk settles on the barren limbs
and fading fences
and wilting flowers

all is calm and still and peace

are you there?

impractickle

wonder full and hope less
measuring the hours by the drop
my mind on my money and my money on my mind
and the world beckons beyond

wasting time paying dues
I'm just filling someone else's shoes
but which of the dozens to choose?

thick with thinking and sinking
grasp for the sun
that light that shines that glows
the gleam in your eyes - the prize
can't take my eyes off it
don't take my eyes off it
won't take my eyes off it

in consideration of the inconsiderate
I bow to the pressure, your eminence
