Bamboo

Here is a shot from our field trip to the local bamboo garden. It was hard to muster up a convincing smile for this picture. I saw truck spewing pesticide on the little green forest and was a bit hesitant to lead a troop of some 30 kids into the fog. My co-worker insisted that we continue for our precious photo shoot. Minutes later the truck passed as was easily predicted and we got a direct blast of bitter tasting gas. Yum!

The bamboo is plagued with caterpillars.

that can't be good for you (or those little ones).

Sad that they should be spraying right in the middle of the day when people are visiting. Why not at night?

Super cute shot though.

Jennie O'Keefe told me a story about having dinner on a patio in Minneapolis in the middle of the day and a crop duster flew directly over and sprayed maliathon and so everyone ran for cover. She talked to the people at the people at her hotel and they said"it must be okay if the government's doing it". yikes.

Ya, that was the exact same sentiment here.

That reminds me of Korea, for sure! I remember walking around in our little town in the summer, seeing this truck rolling down the main streets spraying something... Me (thinking): ("They couldn't be spraying insecticide, could they?")

Is that Polly? She was my best friend at Wonderland when I was there! I think she was like, two at the time.

Ya, that's Polly. We've also become good friends.
