Portage Ave. East

So... this series is still going. I'm somewhere around 1200 images I think, and I've recently been organizing them in 4 sections-- two for east, two for west. And then, each section will become a short slide show/video, and I got a couple chums puttin' 'em to music.

Do a couple versions of the slide show, All winter , into spring etc. Then do a random weather. You may even get choppy bus animation out of it.

Process, process, process.

Everyday the artist gets up, rubs his eyes and takes a picture, first north than south, then east, then west. Day in and day out. Continue, continue, continue.

Documenting change, and the movements of life, change ever constant, change ever present.

Harvey Keitel plays a character in Smoke! where he takes a picture in the same spot everyday and has albums and albums of these images. Checkit out if you haven't already, a Jim Jarmush flick I believe.

Animating them is a great idea.

I love this series.
The colour of the skies especially.

actually, it was a desire to capture the changing prairie skies that first got me started, but then slowly it morphed into a traffic thing.

but even still, it's all really about time, seasons, light, etc.

and yeah-- there are several sequences that animate nicely. the dirty bus in the first image here is one of about six or seven in a row that start w/ the bus at the stop, then moving away down the street, etc.
