Vonnegut Dies at 84

Many of his novels were best-sellers. Some also were banned and burned for suspected obscenity. Vonnegut took on censorship as an active member of the PEN writers’ aid group and the American Civil Liberties Union. The American Humanist Association, which promotes individual freedom, rational thought and scientific skepticism, made him its honorary president.

I'm gonna miss Kurt even though I never knew him. Our collective imagination takes a blow.

no doubt.

he was truly one of the greats.

a WW II vet who was in Germany and witnessed the "carpet-bombing" of Dresden and other cities-- came out very anti-war.

Slaughterhouse Five is his novel that deals with that.

Other greats: Galapagos (one of my all-time fave books), Player Piano, Bluebeard, Tales from the Monkey House, Breakfast of Champions, God Bless You Mrs. Rosewater

etc etc etc.

That's sad. He was one of the true greats in the biz.
