officially, canada isn't involved in iraq, in that we have no troops there. i'd bet that we're supporting that war in ways we don't know about, though. but, as i said, we're officially not "in" iraq.
darn it, I was weebling and wobbling on which place it was, it seems that the news has not permeated my brain properly. I was gonna put in the east. duh-huh!
so that's the flavour of the month for layton. is there anything else that we know about the guy other than that he has extremely small hands?
...he wants to "negotiate" a peace deal with the taliban, and he said that Canadian troops are acting like terrorists. He shortly after received a 92% approval from his caucus. (yikes)
OTTAWA - Ottawa now admits that some Canadian soldiers are in Iraq, even though Canada refused to join the U.S.-led war against Saddam Hussein.
Thirty-one Canadians are with U.S. and British troops in the Gulf as part of a military exchange, and a British army officer told CBC News that some of the Canadians are in combat.
paul martin is the perfect example of "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it."
for years, he was secretly (and not so secretly) trying to run cretien out of office, organizing support for himself within the party, etc. and then he got it and... whoops! once you're PM, people actually care if you're corrupt and incompetent.
and this all paved way for the lizard-faced creeper we call harper. man, the creepiest creeper around. keep your children close, he's got that creepy look in his eye.
IPSOS Reid, CNN, the Associated Press, George Bush and several pharmacutical compamies are all linked together in some wierd ($)way that was too hard for me to understand, but was presented as part of the training/going ons at IPSOS when I worked there. I think it was something like 'George Bush (and co.)was the stage man for big-pharma and CNN while they pushed the drugs and other policies, while Associated Press/IPSOS tested to see if it was taking'. So the average American would sit on the couch for hours with several big macs and watch the state of the world, get a headach from the stress, hemeroids from the sofa, a few allergies, and be really afraid. Then we'd call them and say 'you're taking your meds right...uh huh...and you scared shitless sitting on the sofa watching CNN right...uh huh, ok Thanks for participating in our survey'.
Then Farenheit 911 came out (28 people watched it) and Michael Moore went out of his way to say don't elect Harper, he is a Canadian George Bush. Very shortly after I was doing surveys that asked "Steven Harper is a really good guy who is straight forward honest and ready to be the next Prime Minister of Canada, don't you think or agree with that on a scale from one to ten or not? ...Uh...3...Yes, I mean No, uh what was the question?" 6 Months later he is elected.
i think that straight talking thing is a bit misleading. bush also prides himself on that, and yet he never actually says anything. and harper won't meet the national press in an open forum, which to me immediately suggests he's got something to hide.
i'd say thus far, harper is a far, far better PM than poor old paul martin ever was... but i can't help but believe they're all really the same at the core-- filthy rich, ruthlessly ambitious, and willing to hop into bed with anyone who'll keep them in power. no matter what party or "ethos" they might claim to represent.
anyway, everyone knows that big business, and not government, really run the country. ;)
true, but I hate when people write him of because they don`t like his looks. that`s so Hollywood. Why do we have to have a "warm and fuzzy" looking leader to trust him?

ha! not bloody likely. although i wouldn't mind so much if he was.
Who is it? Isn't he a hockey coach or something?
nope. jack layton-- leader of the NDP. he does look like he could be a hockey coach, though.
He also looks like Lenon, Vladimir Iliach.
He thinks we should pull our troops out of Iraq. I'd have to agree with him. gulp. must be all that time I spent with bill blaikie in train town.
afghanistan, actually. not iraq.
So he wants to pull out of afghanistan but not Iraq?
(thanks for the ID Lorne =P)
he would be a great comedian if it wasn`t so serious.
ha! no worries.

so, no, he just wants to pull out of afghanistan.

we do have a handful of JTF2`s in Iraq. That was "outed" a few years back. Paul Martin was stuttering like porky pig when the pics were released.
lol @ porky (and some pitty too).

The word that comes to mind when I see Harper is 'smarmy'.
smarmy. totally.
always a slight contempt behind his eyes.
with paul martin, i always thought he just looked kinda sad and broken.
Paul Martin: The Little Engine That Couldn't.
I think Harper talks straight, and we`re not used to it. I don`t agree with everything, but at least I know where he stands on issues.
