Derailed
shuffle the cards
on a snare drum skin
"knock knock"
let them all in
on the joke
that you`re all in
right now
the event took place
on the Buffalo Nickel
the train derailed
and they sailed
through mid-song
there was a problem with
a thought on the tracks
but the facts grew lazy
and it ended up
an amazing crash
but wouldn`t you know it
they kept on singing
wouldn`t you know it
they just kept on singing
strummin` and thumpin`
they kept on singing
and the horns
kept on wailin`
they just kept on playing
but some went up
and some went down
some wore white
and others frowns
and one was impailed
by his song
there was that problem with
those thoughts on the tracks
but the facts grew lazy
and it ended up
this amazing crash
so shuffle the hearts
of souls from skin
"so long"
did they let them all in?
I hope they let them all
let them all
in

gorgeous train photo.
no kidding.
what's the song all about? where's it come from?
funny--i recall yelling out the words to "casey jones" sometime around midnight on saturday night at a party. and yes, i was sober.
It`s about a jazz band travelling the southwestern states in the `30`s. They were so in to their jam that when the train derailed they kept on playing.
Of course this never happened, but I thought it would be cool if it did.
