wow James! I think this just may be my fave or yours. The only thing I`d like to see is a little more of the sepia-around-the-collar tones that you have on a few of them. ...and call me crazy, but I see a self portrait in there. Anyone else see it?
Okay, how do I explain this.... Count 5 penguins in the front row from the left, Above the 5th there are 2 facing the right in the background which make your eyes. I see you from the nose up. or perhaps with a bushy knackerson beard. or perhaps I`m just not well.
the image is a little lack luster, I need an outdoor shot to get the lighting right, maybe when it's done. due to my studio conditions I dare not use anything stinky, varnish or thinner or otherwise.
varnish is a trick which I find is cliche, but people enjoy shiny things, no doubt about it. I knew this painter who shelacked all his work, and in fact he(a retired judge turned painter) shined up one of Shawna's acrylic painting because he felt it was too dull. the painting changed, but didn't improve, it just look liked some one shelacked it.
so....be careful what you shelack. no offense to teddy boy, but shiny isn't always better...is it?

Muchos Christos Dineros Kackerson!
What a step in your direction, I'd say.
:)
Brilliant,
The early pic has a warm tone but now it sets in to a warm glow in the cold. Can penguines see thier breath?
A Northern version of THE BIRDS
And you know what I say, more layers, and thinner, ever thinner...
i agree on all points. this has taken lots of different things you've done and combined them nicely.
menagerie 2?

I wouldn`t risk varnish with that much white. Unless you`re in a surgical room with crispy clean air.
Nice coinciding with the Penguin movie. This could boost sales.
it's already sold, it was a commission
Wow, nice work. I vote no varnish. Don't see a portrait yet, but still looking. What penguin movie?
