We are kind of animals
recognising, seeing, but not doing,
no, that's not what I mean
I mean not acknowledging, no credence
no informal
understanding
maybe even?
Not being
not just accepting, not being
not present, not touching
but all so involved,
intimacies, long-term
short-term
succession that
is and ever will be
understanding
the lion understanding
the deal
but it is
those that do
that seek each other
out and pay proper props
to the way of being that
sits there with you
watching a room
excluded and everyone
knows
who is the lion

we are the culmination
of all the animal characteristics
combined into one nature
at odds with itself
killing off its imperfections
and leaving ourselves
alone
with our own company to keep
Hide from the lions when you're out on the street...
