At the Cross

Clearly I have issues. Sky don't post anymore of these, I can't resist 'creatively interpreting' them. And just for the record I do not have dreams about crabs attacking me on the beach, and I am definitely not crazy, despite whatever the results of this test say about me (I haven't read about interpretations, but just in case) .

I think I should post them all! Your adaptations of them are actually fantastic IMHO.

Well, it sure is fun. And I guess there is only 10 of them. But then I'd have to go back and fix up the pig gerbil bull men, in the coat of arms. And from there...who knows? It does seem like a good project.

(Wikipedia plate)#4 looks scary, and so does (Wikipedia plate)#2. I think these must have been made before we understood how humans recognize faces, and the effect (language)of colours.

Big black blotches = scary.
Red, blood spatter shapes = scary
#4 angry zombie dog = scary

If I was in a mentally weakened state, institutionalized, I would guess, someone flashing these at me and writing down my reactions, would be very unpleasant. Instead of these big, dark, indistinct, sprawling forms, they should use something nicer. Like the Group of seven landscape psychological test, where psychologists show A.Y Jackson prints and interpret the response.

It's funny how we tend to see faces in random blotches.

Maybe you would diagnose someone as crazy if they interpreted the splotches as: Well those black blotches look like the shadow in my mind named Gary who tells me that I'm Jesus...

I don't know.

I think all of these are great, and say nothing about problems, more about a great intellect, and a sensitivity that most people should have, and a skill many want to have!

This one is the most subtle of them all, and is pretty heavy, thus it is one of my favourites. There's a true sadness in the kneeling figures, and a density to the Christ on the cross.
