The chief mode of our culture is not politics or religion, but the collection of objects. We are an object driven culture. And I'm an object maker! Today, the fulfillment of the individual is pitifully dependant on objects.
Maybe Kurt Schwitters(not Joseph!) had it right when he was doing his collages back in the 30's. He'd walk around his neighborhood and pick up discards, which he called artificilia, and he'd make art. From cigarette butts, and old scraps of paper, bits of crap, and voila! Now that's recycling.
So, all of you! Stop making objects. Now. I beg you.
***no, but really, keep making art. It's good for the soul. Art is hope. Art is love.
