The aliens have never
come near
here
don't be impatient
son
they're just too
far away
from this galaxy
i know the cosmos is vast
and the stars
tell us of the past
but
the aliens don't really
care about us
the way we care
about them
maybe
they just don't need
oxygen or water
the way
you and I
do
The aliens
are not coming for us
son
they're just too far away
to hear
our simple songs
the whales
the jungles
the ice
and the flora
in our sphere
they don't care about
what's here
they don't care
about demons
they don't care
about lust
they're not coming for us
son
want as you must

"we will make great pets"
Nice one.
maybe
they just don't need
oxygen or water
the way
you and I
do
maybe they are those alternate dimension aliens.
I wonder if they ever have human sitings, spotting airplanes, and creepy small eyed giants with cloth draped over them.
Talking about that same quote mentioned above:
"maybe
they just don't need
oxygen or water
the way
you and I
do"
I would reconsider using the "maybe", as the rest of the poem is very concrete in it's statements. This same section, I feel, would be more powerful as:
"they just don't need
oxygen or water
the way
you and I
do"
Otherwise, this is an amazing poem! I love reading your stuff. =D
