General Hartung: he was a fighter, a dreamer, an intellectual, a good friend, a leader and a visionary. Damon was handsome, arrogant in the right way and most of us really had a crush on him. Men including. He will always be a hero of mine.

What a beautiful man.
Maybe we don't post above his pictures for a day to observe a "silence".

I can honestly say that one of the most powerful moments I have ever seen was when Damon was in town and we went to do karaoke, and he sang "I did it my way."

Man, he sure did.

I only met Damon once. It was the evening of my cousin Mimi's funeral. She passed away from leukemia in January of 2006, and she had met Damon while in treatment. The reception was held at Hurley's, and Damon, my older cousin, some of her co-workers, and I were amongst the last to leave that night. I can't begin to tell you how uplifting it was to end such a painful day with a survivor as strong and passionate as Damon. We spoke about so many things: Mimi, cancer, politics, and even anxieties related to dating! What a whilwind Damon was. He lived his short life with more passion than many who live in to their old age. I, for one, plan to make a donation to the scholarship fund being established in his name. I hope that it will benefit people in this world who care as much as he seemed to about serving others and making life more tolerable when you have a hell of a lot on your plate to have to deal with. Peace to all of you.

I met Damon for a few weeks, I was a medical student rotating in hospitals... I just sent him an email today, but found this site afterward. I must just write how courageous, humanistic, fighter he was... He taught so much about patient's autonomy and will, and how doctors need to respect that more thant anything else. It's a sad day for me, but I want to write how he changed my life and m practice for ever.
