I always harass people when they put another persons art up without referencing the artist, so it would be unfair if I didn't do it to you. In cyber world the copyright laws are all hazy and new, but it doesn't hurt us to be fair to the artists who made the work. Please tell us this artists name, and Geoffrey's (below) last name (unless you think he would rather go anonymously). This is not an enforced rule or anything, just a courtesy when it's possible (some pesky artists put their own stuff on the Internet with no identity connected to it).
I put Geoffroys name there David. Geoffroy Ettienne Dextraze.
The reason I did not put the last artists name is because I want to hear the reaction first- he uses the prime colours and black and white, he creates on Canvas and also on similar paper formats to myself. I just adore this art and I wanted to see if others thought the same - and wondered have naiive or experienced you felt he might be.
..or is he a she? Alive or Dead? Winnipeg or elsewhere? When there are 15 comments I will publish the name - hey we want action on this blog don't we? "L"
No no Wolfie - I am far too inexperienced to have created work like this. But thanks, that's the sweetest thing you have ever said to me. Muah haa haa. We are now down from three pints and a packet of salt and vinegar crisps to two pints and a pickled onion. ;-) ps Hope you're not too grumpy today. Have a wonderful day or as you might - these days - say: Bonne Jounée
I suspected you may have some interest in hearing the feedback first.
I will help us reach the 15 comment mark (hopefully) by saying this work looks a bit like your work (non representational compositions, with mid to large sized planes of colour). The intense hues and variation of mark making, make it distinct at the same time. I am surely not trying to be discouraging, or create some hierarchy of quality based on my own personal preference. Maybe if this is one of your favourite artists it will give you some insight as to what makes it appealing to you.
I will hazard a guess that it's an artist from outside of Winnipeg.
A Love for Art was a collaborative blog for visual artists, musicians, writers, and social scientists. This blog has evolved into a new blog called BETA, go check it out!

That reminds me of the art barn at the University of Manitoba. Mr Grolle, are you active with the Universities in Winnipeg?
Not really - sorry Babaji.

Yes - so far.
The artist is Jean Miotte - to my mind just plain wonderful.
