It doesn't take a dentist to know this is real pain. We are all familiar with that grimacing expression.
The other day when Dan and Lorne were visiting me, Marcel showed up (I forgot he was coming) with a wierd look on his face. He proceeded to explain that on his way over he inadvertently startled a small dog that leapt into traffic and was killed. Later Marcel apologized for telling us about the accident, but I knew why he did it. There are two reasons at least. One was the need to express, so we could understand his momentary somber bewilderment. The other reason was art. THE theme of art is life/death. It is in place as a way to remind us all of our fragile mortality. This moment is fleeting like a soap bubble. FEEL IT!
A Love for Art was a collaborative blog for visual artists, musicians, writers, and social scientists. This blog has evolved into a new blog called BETA, go check it out!

I do, dude.
I feel it with every breath of the living essence that I have been lucky enough to be blessed with.
I know, in this case your the artist, reminding us.
i was actually glad marcel told us that b/c
1-- it did explain his distractedness
2-- a sober reminder that life is more than getting high
3-- a sober reminder that ultimately, we're all the crushed dog.
4-- reminded me for the zillionth time (literally, i think about this ten times a day) of how much i love and appreciate my cats.
