so here's the folk fest deal as i see/saw it...
--kristjan's dad (josey/andrew's late friend) hung out w/ "the boys" all weekend. must be hard and comforting for them both at the same time.
--lots of fucked up, stupid, high, drunk, people. but also lots of good time peace and love vibes.
--incredible music! emmylou harris? forget about it! daniel lanois? forget about it! what an incredible two days of music i just experienced. Xavier Judd was stellar.
--final thoughts, though, are this: i've probably never been prouder of my group of friends. on one side, there's knackerson being interviewed by the CBC. a stage over, ben wah is blowing people away w/ his musical brilliance. on the main stage, in front of thousands of people, madrigaia literally gave me goose bumps w/ their performance. on Pope's Hill, DWD and the so-called Art Band are giving the partyers a 2 a.m. show. (Knackerson, by the way, was almost attacked by a flock of turkeys, I told the CBC.) On sunday night, as me and jenni were watching daniel lanois, i said "Isn't it crazy that, in a few years, it'll be our friends up here on main stage, closing out the festival?" and she reminded me that they already are there!!!
that's about it. folk fest wasn't quite magical, nor mystical, but it was fun. see ya next year.

the festival was brilliant, as usual, I didn't camp so I didn't see some of the crazier spectacles, but Fiest and Lanois and Dr.John was especially amazing. The swarms of dragonflies were gorgeous. The labyrinth was a sensation, what an interactive experience, little kids twirling in circles for hours, big smiles indeed. A few times I thought I saw the smoky tiger....
well, perhaps it was SOMEWHAT magical and mystical.
ok, ok, it was beautiful, i admit.
