agreed.

i spent a long time (immediately post 9/11) obsessed with the First World War. read 250 pgs of letters by a SK farmer who went to the U of M-- all of them written from the front. it's pretty heartbreaking.

rudyard kipling, the great propagandist for the British Empire ("Jungle Book" anyone?), was an eager, vocal spokesman for the war. then his son went off and was killed. kipling wrote something like 86 short "epitaphs for the dead", one of which was

if anyone asks you
why we died
tell them
because our fathers lied.

So emotional, so brutal, so extant.

Makes me think that war may be nothing more than an increase in the cycling of hate and love, where Love triumphs and Mind rises once again.

Yet do not be afraid, I just learned from an analytical philosopher that human beings may be extend de facto extend beyond their bodies.

Pretty dam cool coming from a positivist.

My mistake:

Human beings extend de facto beyonf their bodies, now and after the body ceases.

But c'mon, we all knew that already.
