A Sudden Gust of Wind (after Hokusai), by Jeff Wall

Jeff Wall is a contemporary Cdn photographer, perhaps one of the best known living Cdn artists today, and part of the Vancouver School of photoconceptualists. This is a reconstruction of a famous work by Hokusai.

In lots of his work, he reconstructs (or constructs) scenes down to small details. Other famous works include "The Dead Speak", in which he reconstructs a photo of a Soviet army troop ambushed and killed by Afghan fighters, except that in his image, the dead soldiers talk, laugh, smoke cigarettes, etc.
