So this Hartman guy is pretty amazing. His landscapes remind me a little of Eleanor Bond's work.
He paints them from memory, and quite often the images depict the changes in the cities over time. There is almost always an element of water in his work, he likes to paint ports.
I saw this photo of him next to his paint cart, and wow, it was like this trolley had all of artist emporiums tubes of paint!
Dru loved this gallery, mainly because there was a long sloping ramp he could run up and down.
A Love for Art was a collaborative blog for visual artists, musicians, writers, and social scientists. This blog has evolved into a new blog called BETA, go check it out!

oh yeah-- the art gallery of calgary, or whatever it's called? kind of downtown there?
Olivia was at the WAG the other day (she liked the Royal Art Lodge, the lamb with two hearts) but loved it for the echo, echo, echo...
Sort of like an archive, perserving the city in a context of rapid change, if only in memory.
