I was walking home with my daughter from school the other day. We live on the same street as the school, and I often prefer to walk down the back lane. It is slightly faster, you have more space to walk than on the sidewalk, and there is usually more sunlight.
My daughter told me she didn't like walking on it, and I stopped for a second to look at it from her point of view. It's dirty and has lots of potholes. At her height, she is much more aware of its appearance (which I usually totally overlook), and to her small feet the potholes must be that much more of an obstacle.
I think I will walk with her on the sidewalk from now on.
A Love for Art was a collaborative blog for visual artists, musicians, writers, and social scientists. This blog has evolved into a new blog called BETA, go check it out!

I know, I know, "says who?"
I had the same conversation with my daughter, she assures me it's a flower.

That kind of ties in to the previous convo....
How children see the world v.s. adults.
