several quick points:

1-- the gallery scored big tonight. the entire board of a certain local ART place (in our CITY) attended tonight's opening of "huts and hideaways". it was a show organized by a woman who ran a workshop with the kids at art city on broadway.

tonight's entertainment provided by a minute fraction of the god(Queen)Kings a.k.a. The Greywanderer.

the board of this ART place in our CITY was very pleased with everything.

it seems they will likely continue to work with our humble gallery.

tonight was truly an auspicious hour.

2-- i've edited my profile. it's funny.

3-- ren is writing papers (or banging her head against the brick wall of knowledge... whichever). cDog is being intense somewhere in t-dot, trying to figure out the one, single word that will alter time and the universe. dryHump is dryHumping. bluemask is staring at a canvas to see who blinks first. macro is drawing dots in far korea. kidkrahn is touring like a rock n' roll star. flowerPowers (a.k.a. reedah) is hanging out w/ her kid sister in charleshood. knackerson is half-knackered, and is parenting (regurgitating half-digested lupine food for the pup). jejq is wondering if poetry makes you go mad. the greywander (aka capt goldstar) is on fire, like a phoenix. go is blogging and drawing and drawing and drawing and... wolf boy is crawling on all fours w/ his cats, trying to understand their language. cara is sitting at home thinking about history ( and her wee bebe crawled around in the "huts and hideaways" tonight). dangerman is drinking brewskis with the boys.

how do we know so many wacky, crazy, awesome people?

what time is it? where am i?

who turned off my hearing aid???

1 Kudos! I'm surprised it has taken this long to do something with art city, I know there have been other attempts. I'm happy it finally happened.

What's also really interesting is that this blog unites 17+ people in a constant forum of expression. it's like an ongoing artshow with a virtual roof, free for all.(and a free for all sometimes)

Some of these relationships started back in the 80's, some are new to this year. Some come, some go. some come back.

These blogs might be one of the most rewarding things I've contributed to in my career as an artist.

This blog serves as a link to our art community, possibly more than anything we've ever done as a group.

Well said James, and the show was GREAT!,
It was so nice to have a space to bring a little person who enjoys art. Olivia had fun exploring the hideaways, whirling around to the music (she was in the red fort doing a whirling dervish).
On the way home she said "I yiked that, that was gooooood music mommy".

Oh, and I was thinking about history and it's a sham.

Hilarious profile by the way

thanks. and history is a sham.

we're ALL historians, writing and creating the history of culture. this blog is cultural history.

have you read "coming through slaughter" yet? read it, cara.

i agree-- this blog has been one of the biggest, best, arthings i've done.

and we're no more and no less expert than the "offical" historians. no more or less biased, myopic, insightful, etc.

"i am large" said whitman. "i contain multitudes."

AMEN to that wolf boy.

"Coming through slaughter" that is Ondatje right?

No I still haven't read it, but I will just as soon as the old thesis is defended.
