Help

This is my easel.
I`ve been staring at it, and nothing.
It`s been 2 days. Nothing. Not a Hing.
I`ve put a canvas on it, paper, wood-nothing.
Does this mean it`s time to put the guitar down for a while?
Does this mean I`ve exhausted my visual well?
What do the Alfa folks do in time such as these?
Is there a Viagra for artistic impotence?
Absynthe?
Absent?Abstinence?
It`s not so much a blank mind, but more of
an overwhelming wave of what topic to
explore. I bore easily.
Easely as well.
I used to mock those with blocks.
"Make a random L7 finger-frame in your surroundings, there`s your topic" I would say.
Not today, or yesterday. My formula is weak.
I need outside help.

...after the whale museum I went to the fine arts dept. of the Ulsan University. Honestly this image you posted looks like most of the work I saw there. It seems they are big into non-representational art, as an expression of thier post-modern education.

So, my challenge to you is, make a painting without an image. Yes, use the raw elements: colour, line, value, texture, shape, and/or form. If you can make a beautiful painting like this, without using ANY representation (no recognizable subject) I think you will discover something new and wonderful. It is sort of a difficult thing to acomplish, but if you keep at it (even on the same canvas) you will get something out of it, and it will inform all your future representational art too.

PS. The easle is a beautiful painting, non?

GOOD LUCK!

Rage is thy living name, so rage.

That is my advice.

So much advice out there. So little support.

What you've started here is a portrait of the artist's quest for inspiration. The image of the eisle, the text, is your art.

I really like the work you do that explores your history. This piece is part of that. Link your past to the present.

Continue this portrait of the artist struggling to find an idea. Your piece has already begun!
