this here's evan roberts (1887-1956)-- leader of a huge revival of christianity in western europe in the early 1900's.

though he had little formal education, and worked as a coal miner, evan roberts was an eloquent speaker and self-educated in the "classics".

as opposed to the "fire and brimstone" method of preaching so popular at this time, he preached a more introspective christianity. hundreds of thousands converted in wales, england, and europe-- in fact, there were so many converts in wales that crime rates dropped for several years.

after a year in the "limelight", roberts dropped out due to severe exhaustion, and spent the rest of his life writing poetry, hanging out at home, etc.
