Wow James....are you still gonna comment sometimes? Come visit? Man you are going to very missed.
As for this new phase in ALFA blog history, I suggest we bestow every member with administrative access, a sort of collective non-administration if you will.
no shit. you're serious? holy crap. i thought this was a good way to keep in touch? :( then again, meeting up face to face has it's good points especially since you'll be moving back home. wow. crazy. how do you shut this down? i didn't think there was a way to totally kill off a blog? i tried killing my first one but it doesn't die, it just stays, dormant.
dear alfa blog... rest in peace. :p
by the way, i never did like the way you hugged, i'd always get bruises! >:( i'm glad we had time apart with you being in montreal cuz i was having a hard time explaining the marks on my skin to the wife. ;) :p
LOL
gugh bugh eye
go
ps. "there's always myspace" as they say! LOL
pps. there's a party over at my blog if anyone's interested?!! sorry, i ran outta booze!! :( come and play anyway, it's kinda fun if you just well, i dunno... just make me feel wanted, that's all. *sigh*... thanks. yay!!!... :p
although, let me say, now that it's almost 7 a.m. and i've finished my WAC grant application and can now go start my 12-hour shift at the youth shelter...
it's just that i suspect that ol knacky-boy loves blogging too much to just up and quit (take it from one who's promised to quit in the past).
and also, i simply meant to say that, since this blog has little or no impact on our professional lives, etc, why not just have fun with it? beyond the "don't post other people's stuff all willy-nilly style", does it really matter what we post? i say no, but that's just my two cents (twelve cents if WAC comes through).
Ok, I think the truth here is, we all like blogging, no? So there should be no reason to shut down the blog. Someone said this blog gets about 2000 hits a day, doesn't sound like something that needs to be put to rest. I think we should all keep in mind that James did start this blog and so he's allowed to make suggestions that should be respected, and if you don't like it then you can make other suggestions in a respectable way. Vice versa as well.
Remember, if you don't like whatever route the blog is taking, make you own blog! Invite all your friends! It's free.
I agree with Anita, James did start this thing off, so his opinion (he only offered his own suggestions) deserves some respect. I'm all for keeping the blog going, as I've only been posting for a couple of weeks! I consider it a valuable place to spend my online hours, and I'm sure we all feel the same or we wouldn't keep coming back.
If James doesn't want to continue administering the blog, hopefully he can pass that duty on to someone who would like to do that, and those of us who would like to keep this ship afloat can remain on board.
Ok...I'm glad to hear some reasoning going on here. Of course the blog goes on. Yes, James created it, but it was surely inspired and driven by an existing forum with a life of its own, no? What we have now is a community that creates, shares, and discusses with a far greater range of possibility than ever before, extending beyond James' reach, and beyond the initial group's reach. How great is that?
That said, I'm really tired of the games that some of us are playing on this blog. This is supposed to be FUN. And INSPIRING. Not about egos, thin skins, and personal issues we have with one another. Let's not TAKE THINGS SO SERIOUSLY. It's ok to disagree. Hell, I think it's great! Why the dramatics? And please, can we all just have administrative access so as to eliminate these power struggles all together? Cooperation people. Why are we dealing with these top-down melodramatic episodes?
Well "Ren", if that is your real name, perhaps you haven't considered the political-economical significance of blogging and its impact on the contemporary social psychology...hehe, just kidding. You're lucky Jesse's "complaint letter" link is broken, or this joke would've been a lot longer. ;)
A Love for Art was a collaborative blog for visual artists, musicians, writers, and social scientists. This blog has evolved into a new blog called BETA, go check it out!

in the words of public enemy, "don't believe the hype".
knick knackerson may have quit this blog, but i'm sure a certain jc is still going strong, under one name or another.
the only two rules i'm interested in seeing are these:
1--group control.
2--no editing, deleting, or otherwise modifying other people's posts without consultation and consent.
i'm still wondering what happened to my post of yesterday-- why it was first modified, and then changed completely, and then deleted.
the important question, perhaps, is what do we want this blog to be.
is it going to make us famous? no.
rich? no.
is it going to be the vehicle that launches our careers? no.
so then what difference does it make what people post?
as long as it's not uncredited, etc.

I say sink the blog! Turn it into an artificial reef for future art bloggers.
Here here!
oh, and by the way, someone has seen fit to remove me from the blog, so that i can no longer post.
what? What is going on here? This is getting ridiculous...
No kidding.
It's time to pull out some of your conflict res skills dawg!
:)

Wait...I'm confused, are we deleting the blog or are people just taking a break?

Ok, now burn me. I can take it.

I'm glad someone finally called it!
