I was considering doing it in trees rather than rock...but would they survive?

OR, just google "marinus boezem + tree cathedral" and about a billion sites will come up.
If you did it in trees, then it would need time to grow, unless of course you are going to replant some big ones.
And what about the pruning?
And if you will do it in stones, that's gonna be some heavy work, likely requiring some heavy equipment.
