Rimbaud:

I say one must be a seer, make oneslef a seer. the poet himself a seer by an immense, long, deliberate derangement of all the senses.

Gotta love that derangement.

meh. ask rimbaud how well that worked out for him.

an immense, long, deliberate derangement of the sense may make one a "seer" (though i have my doubts), but it sure doesn't make one fit for human company.

growing up, my dad, god bless him, practiced a long derangement of the senses through alchohol. it didn't make him a seer. it just made him an asshole, frankly.

he stopped drinking when i was 8 or 9, and everyone's lives immediately improved vastly, including his.

Kudos to your papa.

no doubt. these days he and my mom are retired, using their life savings to travel around the world doing volunteer work in poor countries.

My dad was pretty deranged when I was a kid, then got more so through drugs and alcohol, and then really bad in the last few years. He's not part of my life at all anymore because of it.

A highly unrecommended way of life, especially if you have a family to care for (I have two younger brothers aged 10 and 12 in his 'care').

Ouchy.

But love is the only strength you can offer him, and that doesn't mean you even have to see the guy.

Love is the answer.

yeah, good call.

also, rimbaud had a lover/patron who provided for him his entire adult life.

derrangement doesn't work out too well if you have a job or other things you need to get done.

it has its place. but everything in its time and season.

untrue.

that lover/patron relationship ended with Rimbaud getting shot in the hand at age 18. From then on he gave up writing and switched to a travelling working life that ended with his right leg being amputated and finnaly dying of complications at age 37.

True enough his deranged seer life onlyt lasted about 5 years. But in that time, the poetry he produced was truely visionary and left a striking impact on many important creative types.

Don't be so quick to judge!

And true enough I can't really say anything about your personal stories about cases where derangement of your loved ones has led to personal loss and sadness.

But do not be so quick to judge the seer who uses derangement as tool for the betterment of humanity. For the Awakening of Humanity.

Quitmoanez said...

Indeed, but lets hope the seer is seeing a light through derangement, or not simply just derangement.

And the awakening of humanity happens through the awakening of you, me, him, her, meaning that that is as far as it goes.

Your awakening, however prodigious, liberating, and of high moral esteem such that it should be a beacon to humanity, is simply that, profound for you, and a great example for others.

No one awakens without their own true effort.

When are we going to have a D & D tournament?

Those are sad stories.

Drugs alone don't produce overdose just like drugs alone don't produce enlightenment.

It just depends on what kind of mind you mix them up with.

From above...

Indeed many people have died from drug overdoses. But Im not sure if it's right to place blame (if blame needs to be placed at all) on the drug itself. There being many other factors involved.

Because once that judgment is made, that 'drugs' lead to overdoses and then should not be used or experimented with, the wide range of benificial uses of drugs are witheld from those who might use them.

Indeed I believe that a solution to most of the worlds problems can be made through the proper use of drugs.

its a double edged flaming sword
