letter to santa (dictated to me a few days ago)

Dear Santa

there are monsters chasing us but Rudolph saved us. Santa the monster ate one of rudolph's friends and Rudolph really liked him.
dear Santa, I am really tired of chasing this awful monster away. He ate one of our friends and we can't keep her in the monster's tummy.
Now please do something right away.

Rudolph, where is this letter going to? this letter is going to the south pole? rudolph we can't go to the south pole because there are monsters in the south pole

so, after watching "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" (the one with the elf who wants to be a dentist)Olivia thinks the christmas story involves monsters. I don't have the heart to tell her the letter to santa is supposed to involve asking for gifts...

Is Santa is owned by CocaCola now?

He always was. :)

This letter is priceless. Xmas and monsters-- a not entirely unnatural combination.

Santa is owned? for real?

Isn't he a folk tale/ cultural icon, can you really buy that?

well, the santa we now know is the product of a coke ad. before that he was more of a kris kringle/st. nicholas figure-- an old dude with a long red robe, a staff, etc.

a coke ad in like, 1920 or something gave us the round jolly dude in the red and white outfit.

i don't think they own him per se. but they certainly created him.

There's a good Doc on Coca Cola that explains the whole thing. Unfortunately, the title escapes me at the moment.
