Magical Bean Plant

PICT0105, originally uploaded by babajiwotan.

When I went to Guatamala I spent some time with an old lady witch who gave me a red bean and told me to take it home and plant it for protection. So I did and it grew into a very intelligent plant. It seems as if the plant's growth is directly related to my own. Hence today I noticed this little colony of spider mites builing a city on it's new growth. Damn you spider mites.

I loved Guatemala when I visited.
I went on a service trip with my students at the time or as Q likes to remind me "vacationing for social justice". We planted bean plants, planted trees, dug ditches etc. I spent a lot of time with some older women who cooked for the students. I didn't understand much of what they said, most spoke K'echki not spanish but I felt totally at peace in that dark smoky kitchen.
I didn't want to leave.

the spider mites only infest the magical bean plant. And only once or twice a year. I swear last week it was growing happy as can be but then I looked and there was the spider mite cities. They build these little cities (see illustration) with their webs that connect like litte higways and they run around so small that you can't really see them. They look just like dust. I wish I had my magnify glass so that I could see them in greater detail. And they chow down on the magical bean plant they seem to especially enjoy the younglings new green baby growth THOSE BASTARDS. Oh well cant really blame them they're probably raising a family. I wonder did they travel from guatamala with the magical bean plant? Didn't Jack have a magical bean plant?
