One of the first times I saw this movie, I was about 15 or 16 I think, and I remember feeling very awkward at hearing Dan Conner from Rosanne (John Goodman) swearing like that! Haha! Weird how actors become typecast in your mind.

This aspect of the movie was a bit disturbing to me too, but not b/c it was Rosanne's husband, but b/c it was shocking to see someone teeter on such a crazed and uncontrolled edge. And the way he treated Donny, man, just too much.

You know it's good acting when the screen makes you squirm. A genius act of comedy no doubt, and I can really get into it now.

The movie in general too is so amazing, a multi-layered panorama of such banal and glorious moments, again, much too much in such great proportion.

:)

Makes me giggle just thinking about it.

I think the narrator, played by Sam Elliot, was G-d, meaning that he played the role of G-d.

I agree about the G-d thing-- or at least a messanger of the Big Gal herself. It's a device that the Coen brothers use in other movies too, such as "Hudsucker Proxy" (one of their very best, imo).

Just thinking about this movie makes me smile.

is spelling "God" a no-no?

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing bluemask...why that particular spelling?

I know often that people of the Jewish faith will often write the name of God that way because it is actually too holy to say/spell. Is that part of your reasons?

well, c-dog started it here, i think for that reason, and so i followed suit.

also, to me, the fact that part of it is missing makes it mysterious and kind of unknowable, which i kinda like too.

Yeah, cool movie, but I'm curious what prompted you to post it? Watched recently?

Huh, I like that unknowable aspect of the word spelled like that.cool.
