I love it! It looks like a photo, then a painting, then digital art and back again and so on. If you hadn't told us what it was, I still wouldn't know. Did you start with a blank canvas, or a photo? It's warm, and eerie at the same time. The persons left pupil is the only sharp edge in the whole picture and becomes a demanding foacl point. Cheers buddy, can't wait to see the next one.
It's got a bit of a renaissance quality to it, like it could be the face of a cherub on some Italian painting of the "Madonna With Child" except of course for the obvious digital artifacts. Anyway, very interesting, and arresting image.
Yes! That 'renaissance' look is what I was going for, starting witha black and white background like Leonardo, and then airbrushing the color in thin layers over top. The interesting addition to the technique is you can remove gradients with the erasor, unlike painting. There';s the trick, give it a whirl. Winter is here so prepare to be overblogged! I think I'll try another,
