Things I learned from people:

Things I learned from people:

Renee, my sister (on her birthday):
Being kind, being patient, and listening to people, is the best approach in almost every situation you'll ever encounter.

Josey:
Be crazy. And be beautiful.

Andrina:
If you try things, they might just work. So try them.

Renee, who is in India:
Always be graceful. Remember yourself. Always take a second to breathe.

Carlos:
Work f--king hard. Seriously.

Cara:
Listen to everyone you meet. Disregard some of what they say, and let some of it change you utterly.

Sky:
Think about things. Carefully.

James:
Work harder. Seriously. Monkeys monkeys monkeys monkeys...

Dave:
Work is done best at the micro level.

Bluemask:
Smile, and work. Work, and smile.

Eddie the cat, who will die on October 10:
Always touch people's faces when you see them again. It lets you both remember things.

Everyone, abandon your natures.

Be just.

Go crazy.

Love everything.

Lorne:
Find beauty in even the most mundane.
Celebrate with, for and about others.

While I do like the little parts of things, I also like to remember what I learned from Derek Fournier...

Go big or go home!

(about to be put into practice)

(nice writing, thanks Lorne)

Take the bull by the horns
Never quit
Embrace death

this post bugs me.

Why does it bug you? And be fair, look beyond a criticism of Wolfboy.

interesting, this bugs you JC?
hmmm...yes, explicate if you please.

Is it the monkeys monkeys monkeys part? I thought that was cute.

I just can't take this post seriously. Nor can I think about it carefully, not in this situation, or almost any situation.

But I'm allowed to have it bug me, right? It feels healthy...

and T-dot, it is impossible to seperate the fact that wolfboy made it and that it's about people I know, so anything I say, can and will be a criticism to him.

No offense Lorne. The post bugs me, but you don't.

I don't understand James. What is it in particular that you don't like. You ask if you're allowed to be 'bugged'. I think, of course you are. But it would be nice if you also had the decency to form your criticism into something constructive, or even a bit more to go on than you 'can't take it seriously'. I think Wolfster gives criticism enough that he is likely prepared to get some, but what you've said so far doesn't really give him any chance to respond (or reason to) from what I can tell. Maybe we could guess why you don't really like it. I remember that you dislike the "sum it all up" thing that people do sometimes (me included). Maybe you feel this list is too incomplete. Then I would recommend looking at it like a gesture of kindness on Lorne's part, trying to express that he feels we have contributed to his life. Or maybe it's the monkeys monkeys monkeys?

Shrugs
just trying to understand.

Guessing is fun!

I think I was pretty clear in my response. Maybe not constructive though, and in that regard, posts that have sweeping statements about how to live and generalize what you have learned from someone seem ridiculous. Irk.

But that's just me and my opinion. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. Maybe I'll just keep my mouth shut next time.

Some of the things learned are really cool. Maybe I'm sad about how Carlos and I are portrayed. There's more to life than work.

Here's how I chose to understand mine:
Make the most of what time is given to you. Work to support your family, and work to support your art. Work on your art, and relationships. Realizing that you always have something to smile about.
Yeah there is more to life than work. At the same time, life without it would be creepy.
There's nothing wrong with work in my book. Of course, Lorne may not have intended this, but it's the way I'm going to take it!

heh. nice, bluey. that's pretty much what i meant.

doesn't that make you a literary critic? :)

I like this post.

Although, I actually don't think that I think about things carefully at all!

I like how Lorne did NOT say "This is how to live your life" or "Each person on this blog can be summed up as", but instead "Things I learned from people". It didn't strike me as sweeping or generalizing at all, but instead very particular, individual, and circumspect.
