i called it "Geometric Abstractionism" just b/c one of Canada's most important art historians has written quite a lot about how quilting and knitting used styles for hundreds of years that painters started copying in the 1950's-- and everybody thought the painters were so original and groundbreaking, but really they were just copying quilters--
in painting, it's often called geometric or hard-edge abstraction.
A Love for Art was a collaborative blog for visual artists, musicians, writers, and social scientists. This blog has evolved into a new blog called BETA, go check it out!
