History = Funny
This is pretty hilarious--
Read it-- it's a woman (1940's or so) writing to tell her son about how her and Paw have just gotten one of "those new things you might have heard of in some houses called 'bathrooms'".
It's not just funny (though it is, especially the ending), but it's also a neat bit of local history.

and seriously... you gotta read the last couple paragraphs, if nothing else.
Haha, "It's not a joke".
Uh, unless you really think it's not. :S
Cause I sheer think it is.
If it's not a forgery, absolutely brilliant!
yeah, i agree. i'm having my doubts now, though, about its authenticity. it just seems too perfect, you know?
a breadboard and a frame for grampa's picture?
come on now.
my vote is forgery, but sure's funny as hell.
it's a fact....I read it myself...refer to Shell River Municipality Century One..1884 - 1984...Volume 1 page 94.
I read it myself, hehe, words transcend truthin this case maybe?
i think my dad posted that anon comment, since he was the original source (for me, at least) of this doc.
i'm gonna have to see this for myself before i believe it, though!
the book he's referring to, by the way, is a history of the Roblin, MB area.
Is an intentionally funny letter in a history book out of the question?
i'll look into this further...
