As for Stevie here, I was just getting tired of my blogger/facebook pics and wanted to change them up. The more I look at his goofy grin, it makes me smile. Whether or not he's doing well as PM is irrelevant - it's utterly hilarious that this man is the leader of our country (of course, the same is true of most of the leaders of the past two decades or so...)
it is hilarious, yep. ditto paul martin. ditto chretien.
i'm not sure what quantifies "doing a better job". in my opinion, the amount of real change that happens from one gov't to the next is negligible. for e.g., how have our daily lives changed since the Cons came to power? do we pay less taxes? no. is crime down? no. is the state of the environment better? no. is the U.S. any less of a bully? no.
i'd say he's exactly 100% the same as those who preceded him, be they Liberal, Conservative, or whatever-- more or less morally bankrupt, and beholden to the big corporations.
my friend, who worked full time in U of W student services, put it this way: "There's 20 or so of us whose full time jobs centre around student government. You think we're going to let a couple of 20-year olds who get voted in for a year make any real and lasting changes to the way we run things? Of course not." Ditto federal politics.
This guy's just a front man.
However, we must be nice to him b/c, when the prairie provinces seperate from Canada, Calgary will wield a lot of power, until our Hydro-electric might subdues them.
although paul martin, to be fair, did a spectactularly poor job at hiding the corruption that everyone more or less takes for granted is happening. the key is just to at least pretend to try to cover it up. give the Cons a decade in power, though, and watch the same thing happen.
My daily life has been affected, I recieve the family child care credit. As for crime, it's the opposition that prevent his bills from being passed. He did slice 1% off the GST, which isn't much, but better than Chretien's infamous promise. (Yes I know it was Mulroney's implementation, but I was a Liberal back then, so it doesn't matter! lol) He's now fighting Bush on Arctic sovereignty. I'd much prefer him in that battle than Dion. As for Kyoto, he was left with impossible goals to achieve because of 10 years of previous inaction. He'`s being realistic. He's not without his failings in the position, but I do see more movement than I have in years. Softwood lumber dispute settled without juvenille name calling. I think it's good for any country to get a blood transfusion every 10 years or so. It does'nt have to last that long. Just enough to keep the powers that be in check.
A Love for Art was a collaborative blog for visual artists, musicians, writers, and social scientists. This blog has evolved into a new blog called BETA, go check it out!

heh. i don't know what's going on here, but it's funny.
for my money, we simply can't see enough images of stephen harper.
I think he's doing a better job than the previous government. He has his flaws, and "claws".

Pity Paul Martin. He reminds me of that apocryphally Chinese proverb: be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

remember Sheila Copps crying on TV after her "if we don't scrap the GST i'll retire" fiasco?
and then running in the by-election?
