This is a painting that I made as an X-mas gift for Emma's parents.
I have only done 3 paintings in my life and hadn't done one in close to 10 years.
Dimensions are 5" x 7".

The beauty of making it as a gift, and also as a portrait of one of their kids is that you really can't go wrong. I really like what you did with the glasses, although in my opinion you could have done more with the background.
I'd like to see the other paintings, were they from art school or after? I'm surprised you didn't do any painting in your formative years. The earliest paintings I have kicking around are from grade 7.
Yea, excellent. At first I thought it was Carlos, haha. I didn't do my first painting until I was 13 I think, and even then I'm not sure if that would count since (As Knack puts it) I was "drawing with the paint". Seeing the others (2?)or drawings would be interesting to me too.
I think that this painting worked out because I really wanted to do it. Emma's parents were nice enough to buy one of my pieces last year; the one with Emma in it. They had always said that they wanted one of Sam too. They are very nice people and deserve a nice painting.
I did have fun making this and hope to make more. The hard part for me (and everybody I suppose) is deciding what to paint.
A Love for Art was a collaborative blog for visual artists, musicians, writers, and social scientists. This blog has evolved into a new blog called BETA, go check it out!

geez denis... if that's your third painting ever, you're way too talented.
